Okay, so, I'm re-reading Chosen and Phedre has decided to return to Namaah's service. I finally finished Kushiel's Chosen, the second installment of Jacqueline Carey's series of novels about an alternative look at medieval Europe. The sequel to Kushiel's Dart gets another five stars from me. 1) Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Chosen with 11 nominations. I think if somebody has joined a Kushiel fan community it's pretty safe to say they've at least read the first book. This book is about shooting sacred cows. As much as I loved Kushiel's Dart, I was already very disappointed with the sequel, Kushiel's Chosen. The first trilogy is “Phèdre's Trilogy,” Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen and Kushiel's Avatar. While it may disappoint some readers, Kushiel's Chosen has much less sex and far more political intrigue than Kushiel's Dart did, which suits me just fine. Kushiel's Chosen (2002) is the second novel in Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series. Too much travelling, too little plot – it felt like a story merely thought up to showcase the world Jacqueline Carey has built. Taking place in a sprawling, lush reimagining of early modern Europe, Kushiel's Chosen picks up right after the events of Kushiel's Dart. It is an excellent book that will only leave readers wanting more. 2) Wren Spencer's A Brother's Price with 10 nominations. Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey overflows with complex characters, a twisting plot, love, hate, joy and tragedy.
